Case study · Quendon, Essex
Hill House.
Joinery built into the architecture.
A wide-ranging package of cabinetry, staircases and architectural joinery, delivered during a major renovation and extension with Fallon & Co Builders.
The project
One joinery language, carried through the whole home.
Hill House called for much more than fitted furniture. Fallon Bespoke Joinery produced the staircases, wall panelling, concealed entrances, fitted storage and cabinetry that shape the way the rooms connect and work.
The package extends from the entrance hall and living spaces to the cinema, home office, gym, annexe and outdoor bar. The indoor kitchens and internal doors were not part of our scope; our work included the solid hardwood door liners and window sills.

Architectural joinery
The staircase and panelling define the centre of the house.
Dark timber slats, illuminated stair treads and carefully concealed openings turn the circulation spaces into a feature in their own right.

Across Hill House
A complete architectural joinery package.
Each element was made for its exact space, with materials and details repeated where they helped the house feel connected.
- Main staircase and staircase to the basement pool
- Hallway cupboards and fitted cabinetry throughout
- Home office and gym joinery
- Curved seating and architectural panelling
- Secret cinema entrance and cinema interior
- Bookcase with a concealed bookcase door
- Slatted oak wall in the annexe
- Solid hardwood door liners and window sills
- Outdoor kitchen and bar
Living spaces
Rooms with character—and details hidden in plain sight.
The library conceals a secret bookcase door, while the cinema, curved seating and gym each have joinery designed around how the room is used.

Annexe and garden
The same level of detail beyond the main house.
The annexe staircase is screened with a slatted oak wall, while the garden building houses a complete outdoor kitchen and bar.

Working as one group
The build and joinery developed together.
Fallon & Co Builders delivered the renovation and extension, with Fallon Bespoke Joinery responsible for the fitted and architectural joinery package. Working together allowed details such as the staircases, curved panelling, storage and concealed entrances to be coordinated as part of the building.
